Example of Activation Equipment
There are quite a few tools available to the SOTA community. The primary tools are available at or through the official SOTA UK website. A web browser is all that is needed to access these tools. Most third-party tools are based on information from this website.
These tools enable you to find a summit, announce activations, post spots of ongoing activations, and generate all kinds of neat reports.
There is a growing number of third-party tools available for web-access. These include apps for iPhones/iPads and Android devices. Google Earth (GE) is also quite useful.
We broke the tools down into three sections, one for Activators , one for Chasers, and a one including a series of peak maps to give you an idea where the SOTA-qualified peaks can be found. Some of the tools can be used by both Activators and Chasers. The list provides a comprehensive overview, but it is probably not complete. It will be added to as new tools appear. Please feel free to suggest additions.
